Donald A. Lootens, 75, of Brandon, S.D., died Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at Ava’s House Hospice in Sioux Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at Risen Savior Catholic Church in Brandon. Visitation with family present to greet friends will be from 10a.m. until the time of service at the church. A Celebration of Life for Deryk Ulmer, 28, of Spearfish, will be from 3-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, in the Roosevelt Room at the Ramkota Hotel in Sioux Falls. Memorial services were held Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Spearfish. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, also in Spearfish.
Deryk passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 in Denver, Colo., from a lifelong congenital heart defect.
He was born Sept. 19, 1990 in Rapid City to Brian Ulmer and Michelle (White Eyes) Harstad. Deryk attended Spearfish Public Schools and graduated from Spearfish High School in 2009. He went on to attend STI in Sioux Falls and graduating in 2014. Deryk starting working at the Ramkota in Sioux Falls at the age of 14 until he graduated from STI. He was currently working at Cadillac Jacks in Deadwood.
Deryk was an avid sports fan and enjoyed basketball, baseball, football and golf. Golf was his passion and he took pride in the fact that he could defeat his Dad and his buddies on any given day.
Funeral services for Richard Hawe, 71, of Sioux Falls, were held Monday, Dec. 17, 2018 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls.
Mr. Hawe died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne

Dick was born in Brandon on May 16, 1930 to Einar and Julia (Ode) Pearson.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel; sons, John (Solveig) and Eric (Maggie); six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Lorna (Tom Kilian); and their children, Peter, Mary, and Susan.

Funeral services for William Carl Brockmueller, 26, of Boulder, Colo., and formerly of Brandon, were held Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, at the Salem Mennonite Church, rural Freeman.
Bill departed this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018 in Boulder. He was attending the University of Colorado where he was pursuing his PhD in Physics.
He died from injuries suffered in a skiing accident at a ski resort near Boulder.
Bill was born Jan. 10, 1992 to Joe and Betty Brockmueller in Sioux Falls. His first years were spent growing up on a farm near Freeman with twin brother Bobby, and sister Michon. His family moved to Yuma, Colo., in 1998, where Bill attended elementary school for three years. In 2002 his family moved back to the area, and have since resided in Brandon.
Susan Kay (Houtkooper) Mofle, 60, of Brandon, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, with her husband, Roger, by her side.
Memorial services were held Monday, Dec. 10, at Heartland Funeral Home, Brandon.
Sue was born to Howard and Iola (Geerdes) Houtkooper on Sept. 1, 1958, in Hartley, Iowa. She moved to Worthington, Minn., when she was six. Five years later, her family moved to Sioux Falls where she attended Hawthorne Grade School and Axtell Junior High.
Sue worked around Sioux Falls in cleaning and maintenance trades until 1979, when she and Roger were married. She then worked at Litton Industries in Sioux Falls until early 1980 when son, Justin Raymond was born. Soon after his birth, Sue became a stay-at-home mom (one of the best). In September 1981, daughter, Jessa Lee arrived.
Funeral services for Robert L. “Bob” Schuldt, 91, were held Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls, with burial at Hills of Rest Cemetery.
He died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Firesteel Healthcare Community in Mitchell.
