Susan K. (Houtkooper) Mofle, 60, of Brandon, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, with her husband, Roger, by her side.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, followed by memorial services at 10:30 a.m. at Heartland Funeral Home, Brandon.
Sue was born to Howard and Iola (Geerdes) Houtkooper on Sept. 1, 1958, in Hartley, Iowa. She moved to Worthington, Minn., when she was six. Five years later, her family moved to Sioux Falls where she attended Hawthorne Grade School and Axtell Junior High.
Sue worked around Sioux Falls in cleaning and maintenance trades until 1979, when she and Roger were married. She then worked at Litton Industries in Sioux Falls until early 1980 when son, Justin Raymond was born. Soon after his birth, Sue became a stay-at-home mom (one of the best). In September 1981, daughter, Jessa Lee arrived.
Memorial services for Robert Duane Gross, 78, of Omaha, Neb., were held Dec. 2, 2018, in Sioux Falls.

Dick worked as a math teacher and an accomplished coach for basketball and track throughout South Dakota, including Brandon Valley. Dick’s career lasted for 46 years.

Jack Lee Briggs of Brandon, S.D., died from a stroke on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018 at Ava’s House located on the Sanford Hospital Campus in Sioux Falls, S.D., surrounded by family. Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 2 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls.
Jack was born in Davenport, Iowa, on Aug. 16, 1937 to Arthur and Winifred Briggs. He had one sister and four brothers. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1956. Jack attended St. Ambrose University (1956-1960) in Davenport on a track scholarship for pole vaulting. There he studied history with a minor in political science. Upon graduation he was accepted to the University of Iowa Law School (1960-1964) on a Scholastic Scholarship. There he met Juli, the love of his life. He was a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. He graduated in 1964.

Visitation with family present to greet friends will be from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, also at the funeral home in Sioux Falls.
