Donald C. “Don” Clauson, the oldest son of Caroll and Hazel (Johnson) Clauson, was born Jan. 17, 1941, in Sioux Falls. Don was passionate about and active in every aspect of farming his entire life. He often spoke about helping on the family farm when he was very young in Flandreau, S.D. While in high school and college, Don worked for several area farmers and agriculture businesses in and around Rowena, S.D. The Wright family and Chuck Newcomb were especially important in giving him work and encouraging him as he became the first in his family to graduate from college. Don was a graduate of South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D.
