Peggy A. Kessler, 58, of rural Valley Springs, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Her funeral service was held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at First Congregational Church, Sioux Falls, with burial at Beaver Valley Lutheran Cemetery, rural Valley Springs.  Peggy A. Kessler was born Aug. 12, 1959 in Fargo, N.D., the daughter of Celestine and Marvelyn (Tollgaard) Kessler. They moved to Brookings in 1965. Peggy graduated from Brookings High School in 1977 and attended South Dakota State University graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in public recreation. While attending SDSU, Peggy met Jana Carlson and the couple moved to Sioux Falls, where Peggy went to work for Zip Feed Mills until they closed in 2000. In 1984, they moved to Valley Springs and Peggy began work with Luverne Truck Equipment in 2000 until the present. Peggy and Jana were married Nov. 27, 2013.
Memorial services for Duane Dale Westergaard, 84, of Brandon, were held Monday, April 30, 2018 at Faith United Church in Brandon. Burial was in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Mr. Westergaard died Wednesday, April 25. Ferd Haberman, 86, Brandon, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Sanford Ava’s Hospice House, Sioux Falls.  Funeral services are 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, at Brandon Lutheran Church with Full Military Honors, with interment at Memorial Gardens, Worthington, Minn.  Ferdinand (Ferd) Risuis Haberman, son of Frank and Margreta (Ebbinga) Haberman, was born on March 14, 1932, in Slayton, Minn. He grew up on the family farm near Avoca, Minn., and attended country school. He moved off the farm, attended Avoca Public School and graduated in Slayton in 1950. Ferd enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951. He served in Strategic Air Command as a jet engine diagnostic technician. Ferd served two tours of duty in the Far East during the Korean War and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. During high school, he was an accomplished Golden Gloves boxer and continued boxing in the service. 
Memorial services for Debra Kohnen, 66, of Sioux Falls, were held Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Miller Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Sioux Falls.
