Journal Editorial: New school year is a fresh start
A new school year is a fresh start.
For students, it’s an opportunity to learn new things, make new friends and discover talents they may not even know they have. For teachers, it’s another chance to inspire young minds. For parents, it’s a time to once again navigate homework, activities, early mornings and the ever-growing pile of school papers.
But perhaps the best way to begin the year is with a positive attitude.
Not every day will be easy. There will be difficult assignments, disappointing test scores, busy schedules and probably a few mornings when nobody wants to get out of bed. Still, a positive outlook can make a tremendous difference.
Let’s encourage our students to do their best, even when “their best” looks different from one day to the next. Let’s thank our teachers and school staff for the countless hours they devote to helping our children succeed. And let’s remember that kindness, patience and encouragement can be just as important as any lesson found in a textbook.
As another school year begins, let’s make it a good one. Cheer each other on, lend a helping hand and celebrate successes – big and small.
Here’s to a positive start and a great year ahead.
