Area students pack 22,680 meals at Kids Against Hunger

More than 100 Southeast Technical College volunteers packed 22,680 meals at Kids Against Hunger this October as part of STC’s Service to Community Days.

The 22,680 meals were packed into 3,780 bagged packets that will be distributed to individuals and families in the Sioux Falls area. Southeast Tech students and faculty from the Early Childhood, Business, Medical Coding and Medical Lab Technician programs, in addition to staff, volunteered their time.

Participating students from the area include: Jorja Olson, Garretson, Medical Lab Technician; Kyla Garrett, Brandon, Business Administration;

The mission of Kids Against Hunger is to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in South Dakota and throughout the world. The organization relies solely on volunteers to package ingredients and distribute fortified casserole-style meals specifically formulated to meet the nutritional needs of hungry children.

Kids Against Hunger maintains worldwide partnerships with humanitarian organizations to distribute meals to those who need them most.
