American Legion

The Valley Springs American Legion’s monthly Soup Supper is set for Friday, Oct. 20 from 5-6:30 p.m.

 

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are pizza sauce, Side Dishes (rice and noodles), cookie mixes, PopTarts, bagged beans, microwave popcorn, saltine crackers, snack crackers.

To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Brandon Lions Club may also be dropped off at the BAFP.

 

Volunteers, recipients sought for Rake the Town

Once again, the Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is leading the charge to Rake the Town from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27.

Volunteer to rake for a few hours or the entire day. Between 15-20 yards to be raked are anticipated this year for elderly/disabled residents. The deadline to register is Friday, Oct. 20.

Gloves, trash cans and bags for the leaves, trailers for hauling and bottled water will be supplied.

AWANA Club meets Wednesdays

AWANA meets each Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Brandon Valley Baptist Church, 400 N. Splitrock Blvd. AWANA is a weekly, non-denominational Christian club for children from 3-years-old through eighth grade. It is free to join and scholarships are available to cover the cost of books and uniforms. A free meal is served at 6 p.m., followed by AWANA at 6:30 p.m.

 

Free adult kickboxing classes offered

Circuit Fitness, 1124 E. Holly Blvd., is offering free kickboxing classes for adults every Saturday. Classes are 8-8:45 a.m. and participants are encouraged to bring water.

Storytimes returns to Brandon Community Library

Storytime for youngsters have returned to the Brandon Community Library. All programs begin at 10 a.m. Toddler Storytime is offered on Tuesdays; Preschool Storytime is Wednesdays.
