Scooter’s Coffee sets ‘Brandon Day of Giving’ for Aug. 14

Scooter’s Coffee in Brandon (110 E. Holly Blvd.) has scheduled their annual “Brandon Day of Giving” for Monday, Aug. 14. One-hundred percent of sales that day will be donated to the Brandon Area Food Pantry.

It’s estimated that more than 700 people in the Brandon Valley School District will be serve d by the Food Pantry. Financial contributions are critically important to allow for the purchase of perishable items that cannot be donated by individuals, such as meat and dairy products.

Scooter’s Coffee is open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

BCF grant applications now open

The application period for a Brandon Community Foundation grant is open Aug. 1-Sept. 1. Grant dollars are available to non-profit organizations and not for profit businesses in Brandon.

Grants will be awarded at the BCF’s annual fundraiser, Oak & Vine, on Friday, Oct. 27 at the Brandon Holiday Inn Express.

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are canned soups (vegetable, vegetable beef, chicken gumbo, etc.), Spam, cookies, toothpaste, single toothbrushes, bar soap, shampoo, body wash.

To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Brandon Lions Club may also be dropped off at the BAFP.

VS Legion BBQ fundraiser is Friday

Valley Springs American Legion will be serving up its BBQ fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11. This month’s BBQ is being held one week earlier than usual.

Pillow cleaning service in Brandon Aug. 15

Brandon Lutheran WELCA has arranged to have Kraft Pillow Service in Brandon from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15 at the church, 600 E. Holly Blvd. Pillows may be brought to the main entrance of the church to be cleaned.

BLC to host Aug. 17 blood drive

Registrations are now being taken for blood donations from 12 noon-6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17 at Brandon Lutheran Church.
