BV Lynx in
competition during winter break
The Lynx wrestling team will compete in the Floyd Farrand Invitational beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29 at Sioux Falls Lincoln High School.
BV girls’ wrestling program competes on Friday at Sioux Falls Lincoln beginning at 9 a.m.
The Lady Lynx and Lynx boys’ basketball teams will both play at the Sanford Pentagon on Thursday. The girls’ take the floor at 2:30 p.m. against Minnesota’s Providence Academy, and the boys tip off at 7 p.m. against Houston, Tenn.
Both teams are also scheduled to play on Tuesday, Jan. 3. The Lady Lynx will host Watertown at 7 p.m. and the Lynx boys will play at Watertown, also slated for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
Brandon City Council meeting date change
Brandon City Council will meet for their first meeting of 2023 at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3 in the Council Chambers.
Clear snow from fire hydrants
The Brandon and Valley Springs volunteer fire departments remind residents to help clear snow from fire hydrants near their home. Remove any snow and ice within a three-foot perimeter of the hydrant and clear a path from the hydrant to the street.

Game Feed puts out call for donations
The Ed Polzine Wild Game Feed committee is accepting donations of wild game and live and silent auction items for its 2023 wild game feed and auction. The wild game feed – always held the Saturday evening before the Super Bowl – is Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Brandon VFW.
December list needs at the Brandon Food Pantry
This month’s needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are saltine and snack crackers, small boxes of PopTarts, juice, pickles, granola bars, Spam, Manwich, boxes of instant oat meal.
To make appointments for either pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Soup Supper
on tap for Jan. 20
The first soup supper of the new year in Valley Springs is set for Friday, Jan. 20 at the American Legion Hall. Chili and two varieties of soup will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. for a freewill donation.
