BVHA Ladies League is Wednesday nights

Brandon Valley Hockey Association Ladies League invites all women to learn and play ice hockey from 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays at the McHardy Park outdoor rink. The league is open to all levels of skaters/players.

December needs at the BAFP

December needs at the Brandon Area Food Pantry are Spam, chocolate chips, cookies mixes, Banquet Complete Meals, sugar and brown sugar..

At this time, the BAFP has no need for canned vegetables (i.e., peas, corn, carrots, all varieties of beans) and soups, both cream and other varieties.

In respect to COVID-19, Pantry clients must be vaccinated and wear a mask to shop the Pantry. If not vaccinated, clients will receive items that have been pre-bagged by BAFP volunteers.

To make appointments for either pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

BAFP executive director Linda Weber asks groups staging a food drive to contact the Pantry prior to dropping off donations.

Used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Brandon Lions Club may also be dropped off at the BAFP.

Game Feed puts out call for donations

The Ed Polzine Wild Game Feed committee is accepting donations of wild game and live and silent auction items for its 2022 wild game feed and auction. To donate, contact one of the following committee members: Harry Buck at 366-0221; Stan Schoeneman at 366-7842; Jill Meier at 321-8423; or Todd Geerdes at 553-2786.

The wild game feed – always held the Saturday evening before the Super Bowl – is Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Brandon VFW.

BV Journal closed Friday

The Brandon Valley Journal will be closed Friday, Dec. 24 and will reopen for normal business hours on Monday, Dec. 27. The deadline for news and advertising is 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23.

Apply now for SFACF scholarships

Applications for scholarships from the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation are now being accepted. Visit sfacf.org to apply.

Scholarship awards range from $400-$10,000.

Most scholarship applications are due by March 15, 2022.
