SFCF Scholarships now available
Brandon Valley High School 2021 seniors are encouraged to apply for a Sioux Falls Community Foundation Scholarship. These scholarships vary in criteria and while some scholarships are merit-based, many are also need-based. To apply, visit sfacf.org.
Council briefing meeting moved to Wednesday
Brandon City Council’s usual Thursday briefing meeting moves to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30. Briefing meetings are held the week prior to the council’s regular meetings on the first and third Mondays of the month. The Brandon City Council meets next at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4.
Brandon Park Committee to meet
Brandon Park Advisory Committee will meet at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2 in the Council Chambers. The meeting is open to the public.
Kindergarten screening signup
Kindergarten screening signup opens Jan. 2, 2021, Brandon Valley School District will begin accepting registrations for the 2021-22 kindergarten screening process. Families who have a child that will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2021, is eligible to attend kindergarten next fall.
Specific screening dates will be announced at a later date.
Parents/guardians should call the attendance center that their child will attend to register: Robert Bennis Elementary at 582-8010; Fred Assam Elementary, 582-1500; Brandon Elementary, 582-6315; or Valley Springs Elementary, 582-2948.
If your child attended Junior Kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year, parents/guardians do not need to repeat the screening process again. Your child will automatically be placed in a kindergarten classroom.
Second semester bus passes now available
Second semester bus passes for Brandon Valley students must be purchased by Jan. 8, 2021. Passes may be purchased by visiting or mailing payment to the BV Transportation Department, 812 E. Redwood Blvd.; paid online at brandonvalleyschools.com under the Webmall button; or handed directly to the rider’s bus driver.
