Santa Day in Valley Springs
Valley Springs Community Club is hosting their annual Santa Day as a drive-thru event this year!
Beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, Santa Claus and the Community Club will be in the Valley Springs Elementary parking lot for photo opportunities and to hand out Christmas treats. Participants are asked to remain in their vehicles until it is their turn to have a “socially-distance” photo opp with Santa Claus, who will be on the fire truck.
Second semester bus passes now available
Second semester bus passes for Brandon Valley students must be purchased by Jan. 8, 2021. Passes may be purchased by mailing payment to the BV Transportation Department, 812 E. Redwood Blvd.; paid online at www.brandonvalleyschools.com under the Webmall button; or handed directly to the rider’s bus driver.
Payment may also be made at the Transportation Building. 812 E. Redwood Blvd., 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Kindergarten screening signup opens Jan. 2
Kindergarten screening signup opens Jan. 2, 2021, Brandon Valley School District will begin accepting registrations for the 2021-22 kindergarten screening process. Any family who has a child that will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2021, is eligible to attend kindergarten next fall.
Screening dates will be announced at a later date.
Parents/guardians should call the attendance center that their child will attend to register: Robert Bennis Elementary at 582-8010; Fred Assam Elementary, 582-1500; Brandon Elementary, 582-6315; or Valley Springs Elementary, 582-2948.
If your child attended Junior Kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year, parents/guardians do not need to repeat the screening process again. Your child will automatically be placed in a kindergarten classroom.
VFW Auxiliary Bake Sale is Dec. 11
No time to bake for the holidays? Then the Brandon VFW Auxiliary’s next bake sale is your answer. Tables of homemade holiday treats will be on sale from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 at the Brandon VFW.
Coffee with the Council
Stop by Kingbird Coffee, 509 N. Splitrock Blvd., from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 to share your ideas, concerns, etc., with 2-3 councilpersons. Coffee with the Council is held monthly on the second Saturday.
