The Brandon Book Club, organized for people who enjoy reading a variety of books, will meet 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 11 at the Brandon Community Library, 305 S. Splitrock Blvd.

The July book is The Zookeeper’s Wife by Diane Ackerman. Good Reads offers this synopsis: “When Germany invaded Poland, Stuka bombers devastated Warsaw—and the city’s zoo along with it. With most of their animals dead, zookeepers Jan and Antonina Zabinski began smuggling Jews into empty cages.

“With her exuberant prose and exquisite sensitivity to the natural world, Diane Ackerman engages us viscerally in the lives of the zoo animals, their keepers, and their hidden visitors.”

Call the Brandon Community Library for more information or to reserve a book: 582-2390.
