More than 400 Brandon Valley students and their guests will don formal attire Saturday evening for the 2019 BVHS junior-senior prom.
A “Night in Golden City” is the theme for this year’s spring ritual, which will be held in the BVHS Commons for a second year. The décor will include a lighted big city skyline, a bridge and accents of gold, black and white.
Doors will open at 8 p.m., and the prom promenade across the stage of the Performing Arts Center will start at approximately 8:15 p.m. Group photos will in PAC will follow the promenade.
BV’s junior-senior prom relocated to the high school commons after a snowstorm postponed the event a day in 2018. Because the El Riad Shrine Mosque was booked the following night, administration made the call to have it at the high school.
Prom supervisor Carolyn Ebright said Dr. Gregg Talcott surveyed students and parents following last year’s prom, and parents overwhelmingly supported having the event at the high school.
“They liked the space in the building and the prom promenade on the stage,” Ebright said.
Hors d’oeuvres prepared by BVHS’s advanced foods classes will be served to prom-goers throughout the evening, and one lucky prom attendee will go home with a 32-inch LED TV at the end of the night. The winner must be present to win.
