BV School Board candidate forum

Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce and the Brandon Valley Journal are co-hosting a forum for candidates seeking election to the Brandon Valley Board of Education.

The forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7 in the BVHS Community Room. The public is encouraged to attend. Written questions will be accepted from district patrons prior to the forum. They may be emailed to kim@brandonvalleychamber.com or editor@bvjournal.info and submitted the night of the forum.

Polls will be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 at the Valley Springs Elementary music room, Fred Assam Elementary gymnasium, and BVHS Community Room. Absentee voting opened June 5.

 

Scooter’s Coffee adds live music nights

Scooter’s Coffee Summer After Hours will feature artists playing live music from 8-9:30 p.m. on Thursdays June 14 and 28; July 12 and 26; and Aug. 9 and 23.

Flag retirement ceremony

Three Rivers VFW Post 4726 and Brandon Boy Scout Troop 582 will hold a flag retirement ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16 in the VFW parking lot. 

Community residents may drop off retired flags at the VFW prior to June 16.

 

BAFP’s June needs

The Brandon Area Food Pantry needs for June are Homestyle Bakes, grape and strawberry jams/jellies, pancake mix and syrup, Pop Tarts, beef stew, sloppy joe mix and fruit snacks.

Before donating non-perishables, please check expiration dates. Monetary donations are also appreciated.

The BAFP is also accepting used eye glasses and hearing aids on behalf of the Brandon Lions Club.
