Valley Springs Auxiliary members step up to Department chairwoman roles

The Charles R. Doman American Legion Auxiliary Unit #131 in Valley Springs held their monthly meeting on Monday, June 17, at 7 p.m. Old business discussed included a recap of our Memorial Day dinner, highlights from Girls State, and highlights from the American Legion Auxiliary state convention.
New business included the Legion’s 100th anniversary celebration in July and getting the Legion hall’s piano tuned.
The Auxiliary state convention was held June 7-9 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. There were many guest speakers and outgoing Department chairpersons gave their reports. Elections were held on June 9. Teresa Huntimer of Dell Rapids has been elected Department President. Mary Jo Stier of Onida has been elected Department 1st Vice President. Joyce Smith of Chester has been elected Department 2nd Vice President.
Teresa Huntimer asked two Valley Springs unit members to be chairpersons for her. Gloria Bonjour is the Department Music Chair, and Noelle Bonjour is the Department Public Relations Chair.
The Valley Springs Auxiliary is now on summer break from meetings, so the next meeting will be Monday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
