Emergency crews from Brandon and Minnehaha County were dispatched Saturday to Corson, where a truck, heading north on Highway 11, crossed the road and smashed through the south wall of the early 1900s two-story structure located at the intersection of Hemlock Boulevard and Highway 11. Jill Meier/BV Journal

A two-story building in Corson will need to be demolished after a truck drove through the south side of the early 1900’s structure at 25995 482nd Ave. early Saturday morning.
After crashing through the wall, the truck fell through to the basement, where it remains, according to property owner Troy Novak.
The F650 truck is owned by Border States Paving, of Fargo, N.D., Novak said, and the driver reportedly climbed out of the debris and was treated by MED-Star Paramedics.
According to Sgt. Jerry Winter, Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Department, the driver was not injured, and the cause of the accident was a medical condition. No one was inside the building at the time.
For the last two years the building had housed Christi Schwebach’s combined salon and art studio, That Monkey Salon Studio.
On Sunday, Schwebach said all of the contents of her studio, where she creates copper art, were destroyed. She does not know the value of the contents.
“I’m still in shock. As far as I know, everything was destroyed,” she said.
Novak said the building, which was “an old hotel back in the day,” is structurally unsafe and will need to torn down. Walls are bowing out, he added.
Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Department, Minnehaha County Rescue, Brandon Police, Brandon Fire Department and MED-Star Paramedics responded to the 7:09 a.m. call.
