Try Hockey for Free Day
Brandon Valley Hockey Association will host a Try Hockey for Free Day on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the McHardy Park outdoor rink in Brandon. Check in and equipment fitting is from 9:45-10:30 a.m. and fun on the ice takes place from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
The event is open to boys and girls ages 3-8. Pre-registration is required, and to do so, visit Tryhockeyforfree.com (search zip code 57005).
In case of inclement weather, the event will move to the Scheel’s Ice Plex, 4300 N. Bobhalla Dr., Sioux Falls.
VFW Auxiliary’s bake sale is Feb. 12
The Brandon Three Rivers VFW Auxiliary February bake sale is from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb 12 at the Post home.
TOPS open to all
The Brandon chapter of TOPS, “Take Off Pounds Sensibly,” meets at 9 a.m. Mondays at Brandon Lutheran Church, 600 E. Holly Blvd. Participants should park in the east parking lot and use the main entrance, far right door. Once inside, turn right and follow the positive and uplifting conversation.
TOPS is for both men and women, and the group’s purpose is to encourage, motivate and support one another.
Coffee with the Council
Stop by Kingbird Coffee (509 N. Splitrock Blvd.) between 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 to share your ideas, concerns, etc., with a few of your city council representatives. Coffee with the Council is held once a month on the second Saturday and is organized by the Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce.
Valentine’s for Bethany, Helping Hand residents
This Valentine’s Day, help brighten the holiday for residents at Bethany Meadows/Bethany Home and Helping Hand Assisted Living by sending valentines to residents.

Pucks & Ponytails returns
Brandon Valley Hockey Association has brought back Pucks & Ponytails, which is geared for female skaters. The program is from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Fridays on the BVHA’s outdoor rink at Aspen Park. To learn more, visit brandonvalleyhockey.com.
Open skate at the rink is also scheduled from 8-9 p.m. Fridays.
