City to open branch pile on July 11

Due to storm damage in late June, the City of Brandon is opening the tree branch disposal site from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, July 11. There will be no charge for disposal.

 

Brandon VFW begins ‘Chase the Ace’ fundraiser this week

Brandon Three Rivers VFW Post 4726 will begin its first ever “Chase the Ace” fundraiser. The pot will start at $200, and from 5-7 p.m. every Thursday, beginning July 9, one ticket will be drawn, and the ticketholder will win 10 percent of that night’s ticket sales and the chance to find the Ace of Diamonds. Forty percent of each night’s ticket sales will go to the pot. Tickets awill only be sold on Thursdays and the purchaser of winning ticket must be present to draw/win..

 

BTA plans 2026 Wimbledon Doubles Event this Friday

The Brandon Tennis Association invites adult (post-high school) players to participate in the 2026 Wimbledon Doubles Event on Friday, July 10 at the BV Community Tennis Complex, 700 E. Holly Blvd. Play begins at 6:30 p.m. with warm-ups at 6:15 p.m. Doubles teams can be men’s, women’s or mixed. And, if you don’t have a partner, the BTA will pair up players. Cost is $10 per person.

 

Bethany invites community to July 10 Independence Day celebration

The Bethany Meadows community will host their annual Independence Day celebration on Friday, July 10, and the public is invited. The night includes food trucks (5-7 p.m.), Dakota Suede Band (7-8:30), and fireworks at 8:45.

 

ReChurch collecting school supplies

ReChurch in Brandon has begun collecting donations of school supplies that will be given away to Brandon Valley students later this summer.

Supplies needed to fill 150 backpacks include pencil boxes, markers, whiteboard eraser, erasers, Kleenex, bottles of glue colored pencil, wide-ruled notebooks, pens (red, back, blue), hand sanitizer, headphones, folders, watercolor paint, rulers, Clorox wipes.

 

Cars and Coffee set for July 11, 25

Brandon Cars and Coffee at Annie’s Coffee and Roastery, 721 N. Splitrock Blvd., Brandon, are planned from 8-10 a.m. Saturdays July 11 and 25. Owners of classic, street rod, rat rod, hot rod or favorite cool ride are invited to mingle with neighbors while enjoying a favorite Saturday morning wake-up beverage.
