Terror 29 Spook Show returns Saturday
Although Halloween is several months away, it’s “spooky time” every day at Terror 29 in Brandon. Starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, Terror 29, 1420 E. Cedar St., will open the doors to its Terror 29 Spook Show of ghost stories, magic and freak show stunts.

BV Booster Club’s Swine & Dine is
Saturday at VFW
BV Booster Club will host “Swine & Dine” from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Brandon VFW. Freewill donations will be accepted.
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are pancake syrup, Manwich, pizza sauce, saltine and snack crackers, canned chicken, canned carrots, granola bars, cereal and shampoo.
To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Lynx Power Day is Aug. 13
Lynx Power Day at Brandon Valley High School is Wednesday, Aug. 13. BVHS students can pick up class schedules, parking passes, student IDs and laptops, have school pictures taken, purchase spirit wear and more.
Designated times for each class are: Seniors, Noon-1 p.m.; Juniors (A-K), 1-1:40 p.m., (L-Z), 1:40-2:20 p.m.; Sophomores (A-K), 2:20-3 p.m., (L-Z), 3-3:40 p.m.; freshmen (A-K), 3:40-4:20, and (L-z), 4:20-5.
Student laptop insurance must be paid prior to the laptop being issued. To pay the fee, visit https://bv.revtrak.net/ or may pay by check on Lynx Power Day.
Prayer Breakfast tickets on sale
Tickets are now available for the 17th annual Brandon Area Prayer Breakfast on Friday, Aug. 15 at Brandon Valley High School. A light breakfast is served at 6:30 a.m. in the commons and the program begins at 7 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center.
Tickets are $10 each or $75 for event sponsorship. All students 18 and under attend free through sponsorship. Admission includes breakfast, prayers for all sectors of the community and a presentation by guest speaker, Chase Hoffman.
Hoffman grew up in Brandon and resides here with his wife, Ashley, and daughter, Finley.
