Brent Carmody benefit is Saturday
A benefit in Valley Springs is being planned for Brent Carmody, who passed away Jan. 30 following a short battle with Cholangiocarcinoma.
The benefit gets underway at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at the American Legion, 615 Broadway Ave. in Valley Springs. It will offer a Larchwood-style dart tournament. The cost is $20 per player and registration opens at 10 a.m. and darts fly at 11.
Bidding on silent auction items is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and food will be available at 11 a.m.

BVHS to host Region 2A Wrestling on Friday
Action on the mats of the Region 2A Wrestling Tournament will get underway at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16 in the BVHS Activities Center. The top four wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the Class A State Tournament Feb. 22-24 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls.

Risty to give talk on Pearl Harbor
Brandon Valley High School teacher, Jeremy Risty, will give a presentation on Pearl Harbor at the Military History program at the Valley Springs Legion on Sunday, Feb. 18, starting at 6:30 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public.
Brandon City Council meeting date changed
Due to President’s Day on Monday, Feb. 19, the Brandon City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20. As always, meetings are open to the public and time is reserved for public comment.

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are small boxes of instant oatmeal (variety flavors), fruit snacks, breakfast bars, pancake mix and syrup, Spam, cookies, pizza crust.
To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Brandon CityCouncil Candidate Forum planned
A candidate forum has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5 in the Brandon City Council Chambers. The forum will only be held if there are two or more candidates in the Ward 1 or 3 races or both.
The forum is a joint endeavor of the Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce and the Brandon Valley Journal.
