Journal office closed this Friday

The Brandon Valley Journal office will be closed Friday, Nov. 24 to allow staff to enjoy an extended Thanksgiving holiday. There is an early deadline for news items and advertising for the Nov. 28 Brandon Valley Trader and Nov. 29 Brandon Valley Journal. Please have submissions to us by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22. 

 

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are packets of instant mashed potatoes, cookies, pancake mix and syrup, cranberries, fried onions, laundry detergent (smaller bottles) and body wash.

To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

 

Brandon’s Parade of Lights is Saturday

VFW Three Rivers Post 4726, in cooperation with the Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, is once again organizing a Parade of Lights that will step off at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25 from the Brandon Valley High School parking lot. The parade route will proceed down Holly Boulevard to Main Avenue, and will disperse at the VFW. Families, organizations and local businesses are encouraged to take part in the parade. There is no cost or pre-registration required.

 

St. Francis House executive director to speak at On the Menu 

Julie Becker, the executive director of the St. Francis House in Sioux Falls, will present on “Giving Hope,” an overview of the St. Francis House mission and impact their guests make on the community. This month’s On the Menu begins at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Tailgators Grill and Bar, 1013 N. Splitrock Blvd.

BLC Advent Brunch is Dec. 2

Brandon Lutheran Church will host its Advent Brunch, “Wonder of the World” from 9:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, Dec. 2 at the church, 600 E. Holly Blvd. For tickets, call Barb Buck at (605) 582-7447.

 

Holidazzle on tap for Dec. 2

Brandon Valley cheer and dance team boosters will host the 18th annual Holidazzle on Saturday, Dec. 2 at BV High School. Doors open at 6 a.m. and performances begin at 7 a.m.

Holidazzle is the largest competition for cheerleading and dance athletes. The day will feature All-Star Prep and All-Star Elite cheerleading and dance performances by teams, ensembles and soloists in tiny Mini, Youth, Junior and Senior divisions.
