Public invited to BAFP’s open house this Friday

Brandon Area Food Pantry will celebrate 15 years of “helping feed our neighbors in need” with a public open house from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17. The BAFP is located at 406 S. Main Ave. The public is invited to take a tour of the Pantry, learn more about the services provided and meet the staff and volunteers.

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are packets of instant mashed potatoes, cookies, pancake mix and syrup, cranberries, fried onions, laundry detergent (smaller bottles) and body wash.

To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Used eyeglasses may also be dropped off at the Pantry for the Brandon Lions Club.

Feather Party at VS Legion is Nov. 18

The Valley Springs American Legion Feather Party is set for Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Legion Hall. Food will be available at 5 p.m. Bingo and games of chance are from 6-10 p.m. or when all prizes have been awarded. There will be raffles for a Cure 81 ham, a large turkey, Sunshine gift card and more.

Military History

program is Nov. 19

The November military history program begins at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19 at the Valley Springs American Legion Hall. This will be the final program for 2023. This month’s top is military death benefits and the PACT Act.

The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

The first program of 2024 will be Sunday, Jan. 21.

Parade of Lights planned for Nov. 25

VFW Three Rivers Post 4726, in cooperation with the Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, is once again organizing a Parade of Lights that will step off at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26 from the Brandon Valley High School parking lot. The parade route will proceed down Holly Boulevard to Main Avenue, and will disperse at the VFW. Families, organizations and local businesses are encouraged to take part in the parade.

There is no cost or pre-registration required.

BLC Advent Brunch is Dec. 2

Brandon Lutheran Church will host its Advent Brunch, “Wonder of the World” from 9:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, Dec. 2 at the church, 600 E. Holly Blvd.
