Last chance to apply for BCF grant
The application period for a Brandon Community Foundation grant closes Friday, Sept. 1. Grant dollars are available to non-profit organizations and not for profit businesses in Brandon.

Grants will be awarded at the BCF’s annual fundraiser, Oak & Vine, on Friday, Oct. 27 at the Brandon Holiday Inn Express.
WGF group seeks donations of fish
The Ed Polzine Wild Game Feed Committee seeks donations of fish for a fish fry on Friday, Sept. 22 at the Brandon VFW.

Bingo at the VFW Sept. 9
Family Bingo Night returns to the Brandon VFW at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9. Cards are just 25 cents each and proceeds from the night will go to the Veterans Community Tiny Home project in Sioux Falls.
Military History Night returns Sept. 17
The first Military History presentation is set for 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Legion Hall in Valley Springs. Jeremy Risty will be speaking on “Operation Barbossa,” the largest and most costly land battle in world history. This event is open to the public and is free. Refreshments will be served.
Final BBQ fundraiser of year is Sept. 22
The final Legion barbeque fundraiser of the year will be served from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22 at the American Legion Post in Valley Springs. The menu includes grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, barbeques, calico beans, coleslaw, fruit salad, chips, water, pop, coffee and condiments.
Proceeds will go to the Legion’s remodeling account.
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry
Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are canned soups (vegetable, vegetable beef, chicken gumbo, etc.), Spam, cookies, toothpaste, single toothbrushes, bar soap, shampoo, body wash.
To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Homestead Day is set for Sept. 10
Venture out to Beaver Creek Nature Area, Beaver Creek Nature Area, 48351 264th St., Valley Springs, from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14 for the 45th Annual Homestead Day Celebration. The event is free for all ages.
