VFW collecting

donations for Loyalty Day Parade

The Brandon VFW is collecting donations of money and bicycles to give away following the annual Loyalty Day Parade on Sunday, May 7.

April needs at the Brandon Food Pantry

This month’s needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are cookies, small jars of peanut butter, jelly, jam, Suddenly Salads, brownie and cake mixes, small bags of flour, shampoo and Kleenex.

To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Brandon Lions Club may also be dropped off at the BAFP.

 

Loyalty Day Parade planning meetings

The next scheduled planning meetings for Brandon’s annual Loyalty Day Parade are set for 7 p.m. Wednesdays, April 12, 19 and 26. All meetings are held at the Brandon VFW.

 

VFW Auxiliary bake sale is April 14

Brandon’s VFW Auxiliary bake sale begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 14 at the Post Home. This will be the last bake sale until fall.

 

Legion Soup Supper is April 14

The Valley Springs American Legion will host its monthly Soup Super Fundraiser on Friday, April 14. Serving is from 5-6:30 p.m. The menu includes chili, bean and cheeseburger soups, cornbread muffins, chips, hotdogs, drinks and condiments. A free will offering will be accepted, and proceeds will go to the floor project at the Legion Hall. 

 

Family Bingo Night at VFW is April 15

The final family bingo night until next fall begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 15 at the Brandon VFW. Hero Haven will be co-hosting the event, and bingo cards are 25 cents each.

 

BV Optimist Bingo set for April 15

Brandon Valley Optimist Club will host Bingo during two separate sessions: 4-6 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Tailgators Bar & Grill in Brandon. In addition to games of Bingo, there will be a 5050 cash raffle.

 

April 16 is Military History program

The April Military History program at the Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 in Valley Springs is 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 16. The topic is yet to be finalized. The event is free and open to the public.
