Coach C to talk about BV football
Brandon Valley High School head football coach Matt Christensen will be the featured speaker at the Brandon Historical Society history talk. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, in the BVHS Community Room. Coach Christensen will give a presentation on the history of Brandon Valley football. Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
Volunteer drivers sought to deliver meals in Brandon
Active Generations and the Meals on Wheels program is seeking volunteer drivers to deliver meals in Brandon Monday through Friday. The approximate delivery time is noo-1:15 p.m. Schedules may be flexible (i.e. weekly, bi-weekly, one time per month or substitute driver).

Brandon leaf drop-off days planned
The City of Brandon is sponsoring its 2022 Free Leaf Drop-Off Days on Saturdays, Oct. 22 and Nov. 5 and 19.
Bags and cans of leaves and leaf mulch should be brought to the McHardy Park parking lot between 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and dump them into a garbage truck furnished by Marv’s Sanitary Service. Only leaves, mulch, pumpkins, veggies and garden items can be accepted. Leaves must be in cans or bags. No branches, loose leaves or tarps will be accepted.
This service is paid for the City of Brandon.
Democrats schedule October social hours
The District 25 Democrats will host a social hour beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9 at El Mezcal in Dell Rapids.
The Minnehaha County Democratic Party will also host a Minnehaha County Candidates Political Social Hour beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Full Circle Book Co-op.
Currently, South Dakota District 25 includes the following communities, Dell Rapids, Colton, Baltic, Lyons, Sherman, Garretson, Valley Springs, Rowena and Sioux Falls. The Minnehaha group extends to Brandon, Hartford, Humboldt, Flandreau as well as District 25.
October needs at the Brandon Food Pantry
This month’s needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are cereal, granola bars, instant oatmeal, pancake mix, syrup, mustard, ketchup, relish, mayonnaise, pickles, BBQ sauce, oatmeal, body wash, dish soap, Styrofoam plates (40 count) and dog and cat food.
