Life Chain event is Oct. 2 in Sioux Falls
The Sioux Falls Area Life Chain will be held from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. The life chain will span from South Kiwanis Avenue to South Sertoma Avenue along the north sidewalk of West 41st Street. The annual National Life Chain is a peaceful, prayerful public witness standing in solidarity for the defense of Life from conception to natural death and takes place simultaneously across the U.S.A. and Canada.
Life Chain signs can be picked up at Sioux Falls First Church, 6300 W. 41st St. or O’Gorman parking lot. Supervised children are welcome.

Chamber’s annual Rake the Town seeks yards to rake, community volunteers
Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce and its member will once again “Rake the Town.” The goodwill event is planned from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28.
Volunteers are needed to help rake lawns of elderly and disable residents in Brandon. To volunteer, visit https://signup.com/go/YETKTZ. The deadline to register to help rake is Friday, Oct. 21. Volunteers may help all day or half a day.
The Chamber will provide gloves, trash cans and bags to haul leaves away, trailers for hauling and bottled water for the volunteers. Yard and team assignments will be sent out three to four days in advance.

September needs at the Brandon Food Pantry
This month’s needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are bagged lentils, bagged beans (Navy, Great Northern beans, etc.), pizza crust mixes, Jell-O and pudding mixes, canned carrots and mixed vegetables, body wash, laundry detergent and toothpaste.
To make appointments for either pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Brandon Lions Club may also be dropped off at the BAFP.
Oct. 22 is next tree branch disposal in Brandon
Brandon city residents can dispose of tree branches (up to 12 inches in diameter and 10 feet long) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. The tree branch disposal is located at 408 N. Sioux Blvd. (north of fire hall).
