Supe's On: BV summer projects on tight timeline

By:
Dr. Jarod Larson, BVSD Superintendent

As a school district, we utilize the summer break to deep-clean facilities, perform building maintenance, and conduct upgrades. I would like to thank our Custodial, Buildings & Grounds, and Maintenance Staff for their valuable work during the summer break. They perform the necessary summer work that prepares facilities for the upcoming school year and provides our students with clean quality learning environments that result in success. Summer 2026 is a BIG summer for facility upgrades and maintenance. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as access is limited.

We have several substantial projects scheduled for the coming months. BVHS switchgear (centralized assembly of devices, fuses, and circuit breakers – Yah, it’s a really big job.) will be replaced – resulting in significant disruptions to electrical service at BVHS, and other buildings will receive various upgrades.

Further, we will be finishing our large construction projects of Burkman Valley Elementary and the BV Middle School classroom addition prior to the Aug. 26 start date for the 2026-27 school year. Both projects are on-time and on-budget. Please, stay out of construction areas and obey all safety signage. We appreciate your attention to these safety precautions.

As summer break gets underway, do not forget to head to the library and find a great book! Brandon Valley students reaching their summer reading goal are eligible for a Brandon Pizza Ranch gift card, in addition to the Siouxland Library Summer Reading program prizes. We would like to extend a special thank you to Siouxland Library and Pizza Ranch of Brandon & Sioux Fals East 10th for their active role in promoting literacy. Together, we promote success and avoid the Summer Slide!

Go Lynx!
