The SoDak Circuit, a new esports event, is coming to the Sioux Falls Convention Center on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Alliance Communications is partnering with SDN Communications and 16 other independent broadband companies to launch the SoDak Circuit. This free esports event is designed to bring together gamers of all levels and ages.

Participants will have the opportunity to win cash prizes for the games “Valorant,” “Fortnite” and “Rocket League” as well as a racing simulator. Registration is required and opens in July at sodakcircuit.com. Players will be asked to provide email address at the website for updates and to get notified as soon as registration is available. Organizers will likely add more games to the event.

The SoDak Circuit esports event runs from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sept. 21, with doors opening at 7:30 a.m. and check-in at 8:30 a.m. Spectators can watch the matches on large screens. The SoDak Circuit will have tournament-style brackets for different age groups and a variety of skill levels.

The SoDak Circuit coincides with the South Dakota High School Activities Association adding esports as a sanctioned activity during the 2024-25 school year. In 2023-24, 20 schools across the state participated in the pilot season. Alliance sponsored esports teams in Baltic and Tea last school year. Other schools within Alliance’s service area may add esports teams in the coming years.

Hosting an esports event is the perfect way to highlight the power of high-speed fiber-optic connectivity. It also serves as a workforce recruitment tool to get kids and adults interested in careers within the telecommunications industry.

“Alliance Communications is proud to support esports and host events that showcase the power of our robust fiber networks,” said Alliance General Manager/CEO Ross Petrick. “By investing in esports, we not only highlight our advanced technological capabilities but also attract a skilled workforce that values teamwork, collaboration, communication and innovation.”
