After nearly two years of construction, the doors to Burkman Valley Elementary were opened to the community on Monday. An overview of the building project, tours and the traditional ribbon cutting were all part of celebrating this new chapter in the Brandon Valley School District. Amelia Murphy, who will be a kindergartener at Burkman Valley Elementary, had the honor of cutting the celebratory ribbon with some assistance from her mom, Julie Murphy. This Friday from  1-3 p.m., the community is invited to view the new additions at Brandon Valley Middle School. The new school year begins Wednesday, Aug. 26.
