An ode to VSE
In the Valley of South Eastern Dakota fair,
Stands a school building with tales to share.
For a century it stood, a beacon of light,
Guiding young minds by day, while finding rest at night.
Generations of children passed through its doors,
Learning and growing, creating memories galore.
Sheltered from the storms, fed with knowledge rare,
In this old school building, they found solace and care.
Now as it closes after a hundred years,
We bid farewell with gratitude and tears,
To the teachers who shaped us, the friends we made,
In this hallowed place where our dreams were laid.
Thank you, old school building, for all you’ve done,
For helping us grow into who we’ve become.
Though you may close, your spirit will forever last,
In the hearts of those who walked your halls in the past.
