SMSU’s spring semester Dean’s List released 

Southwest Minnesota State University recognizes students for academic achievement during Spring Semester 2024 via the Dean’s List.

An undergraduate student who completes 12 or more A-F graded credits and achieves a grade point average of 3.5 or higher will be considered for the Honors Dean’s List. If a 4.0 grade point average is achieved the student will be on the High Honors Dean’s List.

Local students included on the “High Honors” list from Brandon are Kylie Birath, Grace Heiberger and Olivia Mullin. Martins Esien and Cole Frisbie are included on the “Honors” list.

 

NSU releases Spring 2024 Academic Recognition List

Michael Chevalier, of Sioux Falls, and Jeremy Sommer, of Brandon, earned recognition on the Northern State University Academic Recognition list for the spring semester of 2024. This honor is awarded to undergraduate students who have achieved a system honor point average of 3.50 or better for the semester. To be eligible, students must have completed at least 12 credit hours prior to the current semester at one or more Regental institutions.

 

Local students land on NWC Dean’s List

Six local Northwestern College students have earned a spot on the Academic Dean’s List for the spring 2024 semester. Brandon students are Abigail Blok*, senior business administration/marketing major; Peyton Carroll, junior business administration/finance and accounting major; Kylie Foss*, junior biology-health professions major; Dylan Kirkeby*, 2024 graduate, biophysics; from Valley Springs, Nichole Hansen, junior, public relations; and from Sioux Falls, Dustin Groen*, 2024 graduate, biblical & theological studies and worship arts major.

Students named to the Dean’s List have achieved a semester grade point average of 3.50 or above while carrying a minimum of 12 graded hours. This semester, 404 students qualified for the Dean’s List. Of them, 269 students earned a GPA of 3.75 or higher and are considered Collegiate Scholars, designated with an asterisk.

 

Bertsch is LATC grad

Lucas Bertsch, of Brandon, graduated from Lake Area Technical College in Watertown on May 10. He earned a degree in Energy Technology. He is a 2022 Brandon Valley High School graduate and was named to LATC’s spring President’s List. 

 

Malsam earns academic achievement honors

Eva Malsam, a senior Bible and ministry major, is among more than 1,300 Harding University students recognized for academic excellence during the Spring 2024 semester. To earn dean’s list distinction, students must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher GPA and no incompletes.

 

Wilkinson included 0n SD Mines Dean’s List

Christopher Wilkinson, of Sioux Falls, is one of 721 students recognized for academic excellence during the sprng semester at South Dakota Mines.

To merit a spot on the Dean’s List, students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester. Full-time students must have earned a minimum of 12 credit hours for the term.

 

Niessink earns President’s Honor Roll status at

Bemidji State University

Emma Niessink, a Bemidji State University student originally from Brandon, has earned BSU President’s Honor Roll honors for the Spring 2024 semester. 

To be eligible for the BSU President’s Honor Roll, students must earn a grade-point average of 4.0 for the semester and be enrolled in at least 12 credits of coursework. Niessink was one of 390 students who earned Spring 2024 president’s list honors at BSU.

 

Mosset named to

University of Mississippi Chancellor’s Honor Roll

The University of Mississippi announced students named to the Spring 2024 Honor Roll lists.

Matthew Mosset, of Brandon, majoring in Biomedical Engineering, was named to the Chancellor’s Honor Roll, which is reserved for students who earn a semester GPA of 3.75-4.00.

To be eligible for honor roll designation, a student must have completed at least 12 graded hours for the semester and may not be on academic probation during the semester.

 

SE Tech awards 164

full-ride Build Dakota

Scholarships

Southeast Technical College awarded 164 full-ride Build Dakota Scholarships to incoming students. The competitive scholarship covers a student’s tuition, fees, books, uniforms, tools and supplies. Congressman Dusty Johnson, R-S.D.; Dana Dykhouse, Build Dakota Scholarship Board, S.D. Board of Technical Education Chair, and First PREMIER CEO; and Jim Dover, President and CEO at Avera Health; were on campus to recognize recipients at a special signing day and recognition event on June 7.

Area students include: Jax Nuebel, Brandon, HVAC/R Technology; Kaylee Willard, Valley Springs, Licensed Practical Nursing; Evan Gundvaldson, Brandon, Plumbing Technology.

The scholarship program, now in its 10th year, has seen a record number of recipients for the past three years running. 

“It is incredible to see the growth of this program from year to year,” said STC President Robert Griggs. “The Build Dakota Scholarship is a win in so many ways. It is a way for area employers to satisfy their workforce needs, and students leave school debt-free with a job in hand.”

As with cohort nine, awarded in 2023, each of the 164 scholarship recipients has an industry sponsor that has contributed financially to program costs. This partnership with industry allows STC to stretch scholarship dollars and award more students scholarships.

“Working closely with businesses in the region has been a key part of our Build Dakota success,” said Kelli Rogotzke, STC’s Career Services Coordinator. “Companies want STC graduates, and sponsoring a Build Dakota student is one way that businesses can help fill their workforce needs.”

The Build Dakota Scholarship is available for 29 of Southeast Tech’s most in-demand programs in industries like healthcare, engineering technology, I.T., mechatronics, horticulture and sports turf management, law enforcement and industrial trades.

 

Iowa State University announces spring 2024 Dean’s List

More than 10,600 Iowa State University students have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the spring semester 2024 Dean’s List. Students named to the Dean’s List must earn a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded course work.

Area students include Nadia Snow, a senior environmental science major from Renner.

 

South Dakota State

releases spring dean’s list

More than 3,300 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance over the spring 2024 semester at South Dakota State University by being named to the dean’s list.

To earn dean’s list distinctions in SDSU’s colleges, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credits and must have earned at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Students with F, I, U, RI or RU grades are not eligible regardless of system term GPA attained. 

Overall, 3,378 students from 40 states and 37 foreign nations are on the list. More than 1,400 students received a 4.0 GPA, and those are indicated with an asterisk.

Two Brandon students graduate from MMU 

Mount Marty University recently celebrated its 2024 undergraduate and graduate students at commencement for both the Watertown and Yankton campuses.

Augustana University includes nearly 680 on spring Dean’s List 

Augustana University has released the Dean’s List for the spring semester of the 2023-24 academic year. This semester list recognizes 878 full-time students who have a minimum of 12 credit hours with grade-point averages at 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale).
