Jeffrey “Jeff” Swenson, 75
Jeffrey “Jeff” Swenson, 75, of Brandon, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church in rural Valley Springs. Burial was in the Beaver Valley Lutheran Cemetery.
Jeffrey “Jeff/Jake” David Swenson, son of Robert and Alphie (Wallenberg) Swenson was born July 16, 1950, in Sioux Falls. He grew up in Corson, S.D., with his beloved parents and six brothers and sisters. Corson was home to many of his dad’s brothers, their wives, and children, too (uncles, aunts, and cousins). He attended school in Corson and Brandon and joined the U.S. Navy in October 1967 until Sept. 30, 1969, where he served in Vietnam. He was a proud veteran and lifetime member of the Brandon VFW.
Jeff worked at John Morrells from the 1970’s until 2000 and he worked in various departments throughout those years. He also graded township roads with family-owned Swenson Construction with his dad, uncles, and brother from the 1970’s through the 1990’s. He left John Morrells in 2000 and started driving truck for Old Home/Sara Lee Bimbo and worked driving around the region delivering bread until it closed in 2017. He worked part-time for Dynamic Services doing property maintenance with his grandkids, daughter, and son in-law for several years. Jeff drove truck for other logistic companies until he retired in 2022. Even after retirement, he still showed up to the Dynamic Services office weekly and drove around to check out properties.
Jeff was very kindhearted and loved to have fun; dancing and singing with loved ones. He treasured reminiscing and sharing stories with family and friends, both old and new.
Jeff enjoyed riding his Harley Davidsons, boating with family/friends, and driving his 1935 Ford truck to hot rod shows. He looked forward being in parades around the area and throwing out candy to the crowds. He loved to ride to the Black Hills and attend the Sturgis Rally. During his retirement, he was enjoying his time with family (many nieces and nephews) and friends from the Corson, Brandon, and Sioux Falls areas.
Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter, Danielle (John) Merrow of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Destiny Southern, Haley Merrow, and Austin Merrow, all of Sioux Falls; sisters, Charlene (Paul) Poncelet of Corson, and Julie (Kevin) Hauger of Brandon; brother, Mike (Peggy) Swenson of Corson; sister-in-law, Holly Swenson of Brandon; and brother-in-law, Carl Hoskins of Miller; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alphie (Wallenburg) Swenson; sisters, Donna Hoskins and Sally (Jeff) Nelson; and brother, Bobby Swenson, Jr.
