Ellen Hawes, 80

Ellen Mae Hawes, 80, of Brandon, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026. Memorial services are planned for 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. Interment at a later date will be at Fort Snelling in Saint Paul, Minn., next to her late husband, Jim. 

Ellen is survived by her children Yvette of Red Wing, Minn., Jole (Brad) Gilles of Lake City, Minn., Loy (Bob) Palma of Farmington, Minn., Trepp (Sarah) Meyer of Cannon Falls, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Bryan (Shannon) Kern, Keegan Kern, Nathan Gilles, Austin (Bailey) Gilles, Alexandra (Alexander) Schmidt, Tyler Palma, Micah Palma, Jewels Meyer, Gavin Weitzel; including five great-grandchildren, Ares, Archer, Macson, Mavrick, Miles; nephews, Drew Sobaski and John Sobaski; and ex-brother-in-law, Darrel Sobaski.
