BVACC stages ‘Battle of the Badges’ Blood Drive
The Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is preparing to host the city’s first annual “Battle of the Badges” Blood Drive on Friday, July 21.
The event was conceptualized during planning for the City of Brandon’s 50th nniversary celebration. Like other area events, the Battle of the Badges is a competition between the Fire Department, Law Enforcement, and Emergency Medical Services to see which group of first responders can rally the community to donate the most blood on their behalf during the one-day drive.
Blood donations will be accepted from 9 a.m.-noon and 1:30-3 p.m. on July 21 outside the Chamber office at 306B S. Splitrock Blvd. Lunch will be provided for all registered participants and walk-in donors from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. All donors will also receive a Battle of the Badges t-shirt.
“All are welcome to participate in this drive. Whether you’re from Brandon, Valley Springs, Sioux Falls, or other surrounding communities, we’d like to welcome you to Brandon to celebrate with us and make a life-saving impact,” said BVACC Communications Coordinator Rachel Polan.
The BVAAC has partnered with a variety of local businesses to bring the event to life, including Sioux Valley Energy, Pipestone, Kwik Star, Bill Thompson State Farm Insurance, and the Community Blood Bank.
Those who would like to participate can reserve their donation timeslot at signupgenius.com/go/brandonchjuly21#/
Registration is preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.
