Vivian Bosch, 93

Vivian Henrietta Bosch, 93, of Valley Springs, S.D., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021 at Ava’s House. A public visitation with family present will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2021 at George Boom Funeral Chapel, Brandon. Private family interment will take place prior to the visitation on Friday.

Vivian Henrietta Eernisse was born on Aug.19, 1927 to William and Marie (Marie) Johanna (Vandebrake) Eernisse in Lyon County, Minn.

On May 21, 1946 she was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Bosch at her parents’ home in Valley Springs. To this union four children were born: Marilyn, Gary, Loren, and Brad.

For the majority of her life Vivian was a homemaker. She earned a teaching certificate and taught school prior to marriage and later worked for a period of time at Raven Industries using her sewing skills. Vivian was a longtime member of the Valley Springs Reformed Church and she lived in Valley Springs all her married life, moving to their own home after two years of marriage. She and Gerald remodeled that home and until she moved to Bethany Meadows, remained in the same home all those years.

Vivian was active in Bible studies, both at her church and Christian Women’s. She was also a member of the Gospel Mission Auxiliary. She sang in the church choir and a women’s small group. She created many things by sewing clothing for her family, ceramics, counted cross stitch, quilting and other crafts. She began making and decorating cakes, including wedding cakes and how her family and others enjoyed them. From the first birthday, her grandchildren had a special cake. When they were a little older, she and her grandchildren would pour through the books to pick which one they wanted and sometimes those cakes were quite elaborate – such memories.

She and her husband through the years worked together building houses, renovating houses to rent or to sell upon completion. As a result, in retirement they went on mission trips in the U.S.A. to various areas using the skills they had to help others. They so enjoyed those trips together working on the projects with others. She loved going to anything in which her children and grandchildren were participating – sports, music, whatever – she was there. Her flower gardens and birds were very special to her and she passed on the love of those things to her family. How she loved us, taught us so many things and was always there to help us with anything we were doing as a family. She will be missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Marilyn Bosch of Sioux Falls, Loren (Tracy) Bosch of Burke, S.D., and Brad (Tamara) Bosch, also of Sioux Falls; daughter-in-law, Cherlyn Bosch of Brandon; five grandchildren, Tammy Lynn Bosch, Michael Bosch, Katie Bosch, Ryan Bosch, and Trent (Sharey) Bosch; and great-grandchildren, Elliana and Kolten; sister, Joyce (Craig) White of Sedalia, Mo.; and numerous relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, on Nov. 6, 2017; son, Gary (March 1, 2008); parents, William and Marie; brother, Lester Eernisse; sister, Evelyn Harsma; brothers-in-law, Jerrie Jones and Gerald “Jim” Harsma; sister-in-law, Mae Eernisse, Gerald’s parents and all his siblings and wives.
