July needs at the BAFP

July needs at the Brandon Area Food Pantry include pizza crust and sauce, Manwich, instant potatoes (boxed), refried beans, taco shells, beef stew, pancake mix and syrup, breakfast and protein bars and instant oatmeal.

 

July 4 fireworks show

For the third year, Brandon Fireworks will be lighting up the nighttime sky beginning at 10 p.m. Saturday, July 4. The fireworks show can best be viewed from the Brandon Golf Course parking lot or near McHardy Park.

Grab & Go Lunches

Tuesday, July 21 will be the final day of Brandon Valley School District’s Grab & Go Lunch program. The five-day supply lunch program, which is available to all BV students, is distributed from 11 a.m.-12 noon on Tuesdays only at the following locations: Brandon Elementary, Valley Springs Elementary, corner of E. Renee Place and N. Cory Place and Granite Valley Park, 6101 N. Gold Nugget Ave., Sioux Falls. 

 

Valley Springs pet vaccination clinic set

The city of Valley Springs has scheduled their annual pet vaccination clinic from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 9 at the City Maintenance Shop, 308 Broadway.

Vaccinations will be provided by Rock Veterinary Clinic. City pet licenses may also be purchased at this time

 

McHardy Movie Night

Rain may have cancelled the first McHardy Movie Night, but there are more to come, including Saturday, July 11, when the Secret Life of Pets 2 will be shown on an inflatable screen under the stars. The movie will begin at dusk (9 p.m.).

Movie Nights are a joint venture of the City of Brandon, Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsoring businesses. The July 11 business sponsors are Hegg Realtors-Harry Buck Team and the Brandon Valley Journal.

VS Booster Days pared down

A pared down Booster Days celebration in Valley Springs kicks off at dusk Friday, July 10 with a free fireworks show at Legion Community Park. There will not be concessions and attendees are encouraged to watch the fireworks from their vehicles.

The parade steps off at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 11. Entries are welcome and no pre-registration is required. Also, the parade will not be announced this year.
