Sandra Moeller

Sandra (Sandy) Moeller passed away on Oct. 2, 2017 in Brandon, S.D. at the age of 73.  

Sandy was born to Alfred and Oriet Raap on Feb. 26, 1944 in Sioux Falls, S.D., and lived her childhood years in Montrose, S.D. She graduated from Montrose High School in 1962 and went on to attend school at Sioux Valley School of Nursing, which she graduated from with her RN degree in 1965. Sandy went on to get her BSE from Southern State College in 1974.

Sandy and Roger Moeller were united in marriage on June 18, 1966, in Sioux Falls, S.D. Sandy and Roger enjoyed 51 years of marriage during which they were blessed with three children. During Sandy’s career she worked at the Methodist School of Nursing in Mitchell, S.D., and enjoyed 33 years of service with the Sioux Falls School District where she taught at the LPN school and was a school nurse at Axtell Park Middle School. Sandy was also an active member of the School Nurses Association and other professional organizations.

Sandy was an active member of the Brandon Lutheran Church where she enjoyed giving of her time to the WELCA, Circle, and volunteering her time to teach Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. Sandy could often be found playing the piano and enjoyed listening to music and attending the local theater. Much of Sandy’s time was spent watching her children participate in their various activities and could often be seen routing them on from the sidelines.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Roger; three children, Mark Moeller, Cory (Kelli) Moeller, and Juli (Todd) Jess; two grandchildren, Brooke and Tatum Moeller; sister, Sheryl (Paul) Keup; two brothers, Ken (Joan) Raap and Paul (Laurie Lausen) Raap; her nephews and nieces; and great- nephew and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Oriet Raap; and her father-in law and mother-in law, Philip and Lorraine Moeller. 

A memorial service for Sandy will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017 at Brandon Lutheran Church. The family will be present one hour prior to the service to greet friends.
