BVHS seniors named U.S. Presidential Scholars
Three member of Brandon Valley High’s 2020 graduation class – Elizabeth Boomsma, Harry Heiberger and Henry Heiberger – have been three of more than 4,500 candidates in the 2020 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The candidates were selected from nearly 3.6 million students expected to graduate from U.S. high schools in 2020.
Inclusion in the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program is one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors. Scholars are selected on the basis of superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activities.
A distinguished panel of educators will select approximately 600 semifinalists in April. The U.S. Department of Education will announce the scholars in May.
Scholars will be invited to Washington, D.C., for several days in June to receive the Presidential Scholars Medallion at a recognition ceremony.
SDSU announces fall Dean’s List
The following area students have been named to the dean’s list for academic excellence after the fall 2019 semester at South Dakota State University. To earn dean’s list distinctions, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credits and must have earned at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Students with an asterisk received a perfect 4.0 GPA.
