Splitrock Ladies League results

The Splitrock Ladies bowled on Nov. 8, coming away with the following results: High Team Game & Series ,JSA Engineers/Land Surveyors, 873 & 2,467; High Individual Game, Vickie Wielenga, 175, which was also 59 pins over her average; and High Individual Series, Kathie Franz, 436.

Ann Behrend and Holly Mulder both picked up the 3-10 split; Kathie Franz picked up the 5-7 split; abnd Carol Jibben bowled 54 pins over her average, rolling a 170.

 

State volleyball championships

are Nov. 17-19 in Sioux Falls 

The Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls is the site for the state combined volleyball tournament. Competition will begin on Thursday, Nov. 17, with opening ceremonies beginning at 11:30 a.m. (CT). There will be two sessions on Friday at 11:30 and 5 p.m. (CT). Saturday’s award session begins at 11:30 a.m. with the seventh and eighth and fifth and sixth place matches being played. The third and fourth place matches will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday night followed by all three championship matches to start at 7 p.m. (CT).

This year the tournament will be combined with the “B”, “A” and “AA” all competing at the same time.

Last year’s champions were Class AA, O’Gorman; Class A, Sioux Falls Christian; Class B, Warner. All three teams are back in the tournament this year.

The state meet will be a six-session tournament with adult session tickets at $15 each and the student session tickets at $10 each session or a season ticket may be purchased for $50 for adults and $30 for students. To learn more, visit sdhsaa.com.

2023 BV Hall of Fame

Nominations for 2023 induction into the Brandon Valley Athletic Hall of Fame are being accepted through Dec. 19. The 2023 Hall of Fame Banquet is set for Saturday, March 25 at Holiday Inn Express in Brandon.

 

Brandon Valley cross country coaches garner

post-season honors

Brandon Valley head cross country coach Tony Thoreson and assistant coach Mike Putnam have received post-season honors.

Thoreson was selected as the Area 2 Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year by the South Dakota Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches Association.

Putnam, who is in his first year with Brandon Valley’s High School program, was recognized as the Area 2 Assistant Cross Country Coach of the Year.
