Splitrock Ladies League
The Splitrock Ladies League competed Dec. 3, producing the following results: High Team Game & Series, Rheault Ag Supply LLC, 879 & 2521; High Individual Game & Series, Jan Fonder, a 193, which was 50 pins over her average and 511 series.
Marcia Bork picked up the big four split 4-6-7-10; Brenda Jones picked up the 3-7-10 split; Joann Gundvaldson picked up the 2-7-8 split; Carol Jibben picked up the 2-7 split; and Jan Fonder picked up the 5-6-10 split.
SD Hall of Fame 2020
nominees announced
A group of 10 will be inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame in 2020.
The April 25 banquet will be held Sioux Falls Convention Center, with tickets available beginning in March.
The new inductees are:
• Doug Eggers, a Wagner High School graduate who had an outstanding football career at South Dakota State before playing linebacker for the Baltimore Colts from 1954-58.
• Darwin Robinson of Redfield was a record-setting football player and track athlete at Dakota State College. he drafted by the Washington Redskins in 1974.
• Madison’s Kevin Leighton hit 500-plus home runs in his long amateur baseball career, winning numerous state titles along the way.
• Bruce Conley, longtime Argus Leader sportswriter.
• Ken Ruml, longtime Howard wrestling coach.
• Heather Sieler, basketball and track athlete for Huron High and SDSU.
• Randy Fletcher, Dakota Wesleyan basketball standout.
• Steve Withorne, Rapid City/DWU athlete and longtime referee.
• Ron Mitchell, successful coach for deaf athletes.
• Laverne Diede, early trailblazer for women’s sports.
The South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame was started by the South Dakota Sportswriters Association and is now managed by a group of volunteers from across that state.
