Letter to the Editor: Reader suggests library provide curbside service

The Brandon branch of Siouxland Library is closed. When we asked if we could pick up our held books at the door or curb we were told NO. We then inquired at the main office in Sioux Falls and were told original plans were to re-open March 30th. That may well now extend to sometime in May.

We asked why books could not be picked up at the door with no one entering the library, similar to the way the food industry provides curbside delivery of meals. We were told that was considered but the decision to not do it was made as the powers that be wanted to encourage people to stay home.

Now, we figure, if people could pick up their books, would they then not stay home and read them? It would appear to us the virus has affected the brains of the POWERS THAT BE and they can no longer think logically.

Perhaps it is time for the media and the public to get into the act.
