Leona June Hoff was born near Steen, Minn., on June 10, 1940, to Gerrit and Willemina (Juffer) Hoff. The youngest of five children, Lee was raised with her brother and three sisters on farms near Steen and Luverne, Minn. Lee graduated from Beaver Creek High School in 1957. It was at church, that she met Marvin Veldkamp. On June 10, 1958, Lee’s 18th birthday, Lee married Marv in Luverne, Minn. The couple lived near Luverne, where they had their first daughter, Lori. Marv and Lee then moved to Baltic, S.D., where their second daughter, Ladelle, was born. In November of 1963, Marv and Lee moved to Garretson, S.D., and resided there for six years before settling in Brandon, in 1970. In early 1971, they purchased a garbage route in Sioux Falls. In true teamwork fashion, Lee managed all the bookkeeping for Marv’s Sanitary Service while Marv was working the routes.

After the girls were grown, Marv and Lee enjoyed travelling to gospel concerts. A highlight of their travels each year was attending the National Quartet Convention held in Louisville, Ky., (and later moved to a location in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.) each September where they would see many friends and spend the week listening to the music they enjoyed.

Lee will be deeply missed by her husband of 64 years, Marv; her two children, Lori (Tom) Wilford, Brandon, and Ladelle (Jim) Dwyer, Windermere, Fla.; grandchildren, Rebekah Larson, Orlando, Fla., Gerrit (fiancé Melissa Brausch) Wilford, Chicago, Ill, Micah (Peyton) Larson, Grace Wilford, Brandon, (Halie) Larson; great-grandchildren, Avery, Noah, Elliot, and Hollis, all of Orlando; two step-grandchildren, Brady Dwyer and Brock Dwyer, both of Orlando; one sister, Alvina (Don) Christoffels, Luverne; sisters-in-law, Caroline Veldkamp, Sioux Falls, Frances Veldkamp, Luverne, Hendrene Van Wyhe, Edgerton, Minn., Grace (Lou) Charette, Sioux Falls, Arlene (Norman) Haak, Oaks, N.D.; and one brother-in-law, Alvin (Shirley) Veldkamp, Sioux Falls.
