Superintendent Dr. Jarod Larson accepts a $2,500 donation from BV Optimists (from left) Todd Winkel, AJ Menden, Sophia Menden, a fifth grader at Robert Bennis Elementary, and Optimist Jeremy Risty at half-time of Friday’s boys basketball game. The BV Optimist Club is a non-profit service organization dedicated to creating and funding programs that help local youth in a variety of ways. This past spring, the Club gave $4,000 toward the purchase of the semi-trailer for the Marching Lynx. The last 10 years, the Club has donated proceeds from their wild game feed, essentially earmarked for negative balance student lunch accounts and the weekend backpack program. More recently, funds have covered bus pass fees and provided coats, gloves and more for kids. Since its inception, the wild game feed has raise more than $50,000 for Brandon Valley youth.
