Brandon Valley Baseball Association will break ground this Thursday on First National Bank Field @ Aspen Park. Field A at Aspen Park will undergo a complete renovation, which includes a new concession stand, grandstand, backstop and netting system, dugouts, turf infield, a laser leveled outfield with a state-of-the-art irrigation system, new game fences, a full bullpen renovation, improved walking paths and new lighting.
“We are excited to announce the addition of our new premier baseball facility in Brandon. We believe this facility will be a game changer for our kids and community,” said Stuart Peschel, BVBA president. “Our youth deserve a first-class baseball experience and I believe First National Bank Field will provide this for our players. We are extremely proud that this renovation is a cooperative effort between the City of Brandon and the Brandon Valley Baseball Association. At this point the fundraising efforts have raised over $1.1 million in support of the project.”
The facility will host a ground-breaking ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The first games to be played on the new field are scheduled for the spring of 2018.
In addition to regular season games the facility will also host BVBA tournaments, district, regional and state tournaments. The facility is expected to host over 100 youth baseball games a year.
In additional to bringing new events to Brandon, this complex will also be home to all Brandon Valley Baseball Association teams. The BVBA offers recreational and competitive level teams for athletes of all ages and all skill sets. Teams within the BVBA will have the first opportunity to practice and play on the new playing surface starting in February.
When asked about what this renovation means to the BVBA, Peschel said, “We are very excited to provide a great baseball experience for tournaments, leagues, and practices for our teams. Our goal is to take our programs to the next level and we believe having this facility available to our players will allow us to do so.”
