Ebel Heard & Co. expands CPA services to Brandon

When Kyle Ebel looked at Brandon’s business landscape for accounting firms a few years back, he saw the community could use a few good CPAs.
After 10 years in Rock Rapids, Iowa, Ebel Heard & Co. has branched out to southeast South Dakota – specifically, a suite on Splitrock Boulevard above ACE Hardware in Brandon.
“What I hear from a lot of people who go to national tax consultants is they’re not getting the quality and value they deserve or paid for,” said Ebel, who founded the firm in 2007 with Dan Heard. “I look out here at a town of 10,000, with business and industry, and I see an underserved market. Our goal is to be part of the community and provide services individuals and businesses are looking for.”
In addition to tax preparation and bookkeeping, Ebel Heard & Co. provides business consulting to help small business owners look beyond day-to-day accounting at ways to turn revenue into growth.
The firm also offers college planning for families navigating the financial aid process.
“One thing we as a firm do is bring that small-town, personal service,” said Ebel, who has 19 years of experience as a CPA. “The town, the city, certainly warrants that.”
He currently divides office hours between the Rock Rapids and Brandon offices and is looking to bring on a full-time CPA who lives in the area. With tax season just around the corner, the firm will be available to serve the community Monday through Friday starting in January.
