City establishes list of imposed fines

The city of Brandon has re-visited the list of fines you can be charged with if you’re caught violating a city ordinance.
At the request of the police department, City Hall recently streamlined violation fines and tweaked the language into a new resolution. The City Council passed the document in February via Resolution 6-20.
“We took a look at the fine schedule we had and just made sure everything was logical and consistent,” said city administrator Bryan Read.
The resolution lists fines for everything from blocking a driveway ($20) to peddling without a permit ($150).
“We didn’t add new violations,” Read clarified.
The resolution, which was drafted by city attorney Lisa Marso, also includes a $500 fine for a railroad blocking a street more than five minutes (7-3-3) and $222.50 for speeding 26 miles or more over the limit in the city and school zone (12-8-3).
For a complete list of ordinances and violation costs, review Resolution 6-20 on the city’s website at cityofbrandon.org.
